OKLAHOMA CITY -- Some Oklahoma City residents have another option to help them cope with the summer heat, thanks to a large delivery of box fans from OG&E.
The Salvation Army received two hundred and twenty-five of the fans, and were handing them out to clients with a few hours of the delivery. Patsy Strothoff could hardly wait to get her fan, since the one she had went out on her just recently.
"It quit working before the hot weather hit," Strothoff said. "So I've been tryin' to get a fan before now." Sterling Mayer Jr. also received a fan today along with his cart of groceries.
"It's good for the summer," he said. "It'll keep you cool."
OG&E's fan giveaway started a few years ago with just a couple hundred. Today the company delivered a thousand to area agencies. It's a program that OG&E spokesperson Tim Hartley is proud of.
"'Cause it can be dangerously hot," said Hartley. "We know people need them and can benefit from them."
