EDMOND, Oklahoma -- A brutal assault left him with life changing injuries, but Saturday, Officer Chad Peery's fellow officers are lending a hand.
It's called Taking Care of your own, and Saturday at AMF Boulevard Lanes in Edmond, police officers will be raising money for Peery.
Of course, the public is invited to bowl or come out here and bid on some auction items.
On Friday evening, officers were folding thousands of t-shirts for all of the bowlers they are expecting. Eighty teams have already signed up to bowl. In addition, there will be silent and live auctions that include trips to see David Letterman, to Cancun, and a 6 person storm shelter.
Peery was badly beaten when he tried to break of a bar fight last February.
Since then, it has been a long recovery period.
We're told officer Peery will be at the bowling alley for the fundraiser. He also wants to pass along that he's very grateful for all the community support he has received and he hopes the community rallies around Sheriff's Major John Waldenville who was shot in the head earlier this spring.
