OKC Thunder To Hold Auditions For Thunder Girls Team

OKLAHOMA CITY -- The Oklahoma City Thunder will host auditions for next season's Thunder Girls dance team on Saturday, August 6, at the Cox Convention Center, beginning at 9 a.m. Women 18 and older with energetic personalities are welcome to audition. Registration forms are now available at THUNDER.NBA.COM, along with details on the audition process. The 2011-12 Thunder Girls are proudly presented by Riverwind Casino.

The audition process will be an all-day event. Participants will learn a series of dance combinations and finalists will be chosen at the end of the day. Members of last year's team are still required to audition for a spot on the 2011-12 squad. Thunder Girl hopefuls are encouraged to submit their application and $20 registration fee before August 6. Walk-ins are accepted the day of auditions for an increased application fee of $30.

The new Thunder Girls dance team will be announced later that week in front of a live audience on Thursday, August 11, at the Riverwind Casino. The preliminary round of the audition on Saturday, Aug. 6 is closed to the public.

The Thunder Girls perform at all 41 home games, make over 100 appearances throughout the region and are ambassadors for the Thunder at community and sponsorship events. Nearly 200 talented applicants show up annually to audition for a spot on the Thunder Girls team.
