There is a laundry list of superlatives from the Sooners on Saturday. They hammered a good Florida State team and officially joined the BCS race in 2010.
The two things that jumped out to me...1) the shut-off valve that the OU defense found after Florida States opening drive was tight. The Seminoles offense has been prolific in recent games and Christian Ponder isnt a Heisman contender for nothing. The Sooners made them look anemic. 2) The OU receivers were dogged pretty heavily last week by fans and media. I thought they were outstanding against the Noles. 12 different guys caught passes. They made tough catches and fought hard for extra yards. And it wasnt just the wide receivers. The running backs and tight ends were equally impressive in the passing game. If the OU pass catchers play like that the Sooners will be a handful for any defense they come up against this season.
Favorite moment from the sidelines: Head Referee Jack Childress was great at the coin flip. He told the captains he wanted to see good sportsmanship all day. "Knock each other down. Reach down your hand and help them back up. Then knock them back down again." Awesome.
