Its shocking to see LSU ranked this low, but quite frankly, Les Miles team had a bad offense a year ago and they may not be much better this year.
Jordan Jefferson is back at quarterback. He had concrete feet in the pocket last season, sacked 34 times. But his physical skills are obvious and he may show considerable improvement in 2010. LSU has explosive running back Michael Ford to help take the pressure off Jefferson. The receiving corps was highly recruited but unproven in college.
Defensively, cornerback Patrick Peterson is a 1st-round NFL talent. The Tigers will be stout no doubt, but need to put more pressure on opposing QBs than they did a year ago. Linebacker Kelvin Sheppard is the real deal. Freshman Barkevious Mingo has one of the best names in the country. Im rooting for him just so I can say his name on highlights.
In the last two seasons LSU is 0-6 against Florida, Alabama and Ole Miss. Thats hard to believe. I think the Bayou Bengals struggle again in 2010. They lose to Butch Davis and North Carolina in the opener, then also suffer losses at Florida, at Auburn and vs Alabama.
Prediction: 8-4
