DEANS TAKE to open Sundays Blitz featured former OSU star golfer Rickey Fowler. He finished tied for 14th place after it looked like he would miss the cut. He plays a lot of golf at Oak Tree and played a round with Sam Bradford a couple of months ago. Of course he beat Bradford, but was very impressed with the golfing prowess of the former Sooner. Told me, "he shot 76 or 77, from the back tees, and it was blowing 25-30." Cook kid. Look for him to win and win big. Hes over $2 mill already.
Deans Take:
Rickey Fowler found out the Sunday before last weeks John Deere that hed received an exemption to the British Open--the very thing he was trying to earn at that tournament in the first place.
Instead of backing out and getting to Scotland to prepare for his first Open, the former Cowboy did the standup thing: played in the John Deere, got to St. Andrews late, and was basically weathered out until his first-day 79.
But he rallied to shoot 11-under the last three rounds-best in the tournament. Classy talent.
Hear that Tiger?
