OKLAHOMA CITY -- An Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper was named "Trooper of the Year" for his work to save a man from drowning in Lake Texoma last summer.

Trooper Greg Williams saved the man from drowning in the lake the week before the 4th of July holiday. Williams pulled the man on his boat, cleared water out of his lungs and took him to shore.

"My dad was a trooper for 36 years and he received this award in 1978 for the Caddo shooting. It's just been something in our blood and just always wanted to serve the state," Williams said.

Williams credited his training for helping him save the man's life.
