NEWCASTLE, Oklahoma -- The Newcastle City Council unanimously decides not to endorse a five year extension of the half-cent county wide sales tax.

The council members said they don't think their city is getting its fair share of the sales tax distribution. Newcastle contributes more than 40 percent of the county-wide sales tax revenue, but gets only about 4 percent in return.

The money helps support McClain County Fire Departments, especially volunteer fire departments.

The measure heads for a public vote on April 5.
