Ardmore Police Work To Identify Man Found Dead In Wal-Mart Restroom

ARDMORE, Oklahoma -- Police said a man who was shot in a bathroom at an Ardmore Walmart died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Officers went to the store about 8:30 p.m. Wednesday after an employee called to report that a man had been shot.

Police Chief Keith Mann told the Daily Ardmoreite that the gunshot was self-inflicted, but he said the man had no identification on him.

Mann said the victim was taken to a local hospital and was later flown by medical helicopter to another medical facility but died during the flight.

Police Cpl. Chad Anthony said the man's remains were sent to the state Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy.

The man was described as a white male, possible in his 40s, 6'4" tall, weighed 250 pounds, had brown eyes, black/brown hair, a mustache, and a scare approximately 6.5 centimeter long, located 2 to 3 inches above his left ankle.
