LAWTON, Oklahoma -- A 38-year-old Lawton man is facing a second-degree murder charge after the death of his 10-year-old stepson.
Comanche County prosecutors filed the charge against Lancey D. Ray, who made his initial court appearance on Monday. The Lawton Constitution reports that Ray said little during the hearing, other than addressing the judge as "sir" and "your honor."
Special Judge Ken Harris ordered Ray held in the county jail on a $1 million bond.
In an affidavit, prosecutors say Ray killed Malik Ray by beating him with a belt and a cutting board. The boy died Thursday at an Oklahoma City hospital.
