OKLAHOMA CITY – A plane skidded off the runway while trying to land at Wiley Post Airport late Thursday afternoon.
It appears the plane slid along the runway and landed in a grassy area next to the main runway. The landing gear collapsed which caused the plane to skid into the grass.
It was an open cockpit tandem two-seater low-wing aircraft. Records show the plane, built in 1940, is registered to Hisey Aviation LLC in Oklahoma City.
FAA spokesman Lynn Lunsford said two people were on board the single-engine plane but neither was injured. The FAA is investigating the incident.
The main runway was closed for a short amount of time while the scene was cleared.
