Director James Cameron Considers Himself Honorary Okie

OKLAHOMA CITY -- James Cameron is the creative mind behind movies like Titanic, Aliens and Avatar, but tonight he was in town for a cause that's close to his heart.

The Academy Award winning director and his wife came to Oklahoma City for a cystic fibrosis research benefit. The couple is very passionate about curing cystic fibrosis because their nephew suffers from CF.

"The local chapters [Cystic Fibrosis Foundation], like the own here in Oklahoma City make such a big difference because it's actually a disease where they're making breakthroughs every year...So the kind of funding that comes from this kind of event actually does make a big difference," said James Cameron.

And Suzy Cameron is actually one of Oklahoma's own.

"It's a wonderful place to be from. I've had the opportunity to travel all over the world, and I'm always proud to say that I'm from Oklahoma, and I get to come back all the time," said Suzy Cameron.

"My family and her family are merged into one crazy clan," said James Cameron.

Suzy said her husband is an "Okie by marriage." "Exactly, I'm honorary," he added.
