OKLAHOMA CITY -- Some OU fans have taken a bit of a beating this week about their behavior at the end of the National Anthem, but those same fans made quite an impression on their visitors from Florida State last weekend.
One Florida State fan wrote a long post on a Seminole fan website about his experience in Norman and being overwhelmed by Sooner hospitality.
The fan wrote: "It was just amazing how friendly and gracious these Sooner fans were before and after the game."
He said several times tailgating Sooner fans shouted: "Welcome to Norman, we're glad you're here! Would you like something to eat, how about something to drink or maybe a beer? You Seminoles sure travel well, thanks for coming!"
That prompted other Seminole fans to chime in, one wrote: "I was prepared for a hostile atmosphere. It was anything but hostile. After the game we got invited to a tailgate party by a group from the Seminole Tribe of Oklahoma."
And another fan stated how they were shocked by how nice the OU campus was writing: "And now I have a better understanding of why great players would want to go there, besides just the tradition of the football program."
It's not really surprising, but it sure is nice to hear.
