ANADARKO, Oklahoma -- Brent Kinder was elected as Caddo County's district 3 county commissioner Wednesday, after a recount of votes.

The county election board ordered a recount of the August 24 runoff primary election, following a petition by candidate Carlos Squires.

Unofficial results on August 24 showed Kinder defeated Squires by eight votes in the Democratic runoff.

One additional vote was counted for Kinder during Wednesday's recount, totaling 840 votes for Kinder and 831 votes for Squires.

The board immediately certified the election results.

Squires paid $600 for the recount, according to documents filed with the election board.

Meanwhile, another candidate has contested election results in the Democratic runoff for Caddo County assessor.

Incumbent Sandy Crumm alleged voter irregularity, including electioneering and illegal voting.

Unofficial results showed Edward Whitworth defeated Crumm by 91 votes.

A hearing on the matter is scheduled for September 2 at the Caddo County Courthouse.
