CYRIL, Oklahoma -- A powerful wind gust ripped off part of the Cyril High School building's roof in just a matter of seconds Tuesday afternoon.
Cyril Schools Superintendent Jamie Mitchell said students were inside the building at the time but no one was injured.
"It pulled off at least a third of the roof of the old high school section," Mitchell said.
Mitchell said they are currently assessing damage but said they want to ensure their students' safety.
"We are working on the safety issue at this point," Mitchell said.
He said a crew is headed to the high school to assess more of the damage including electrical damage and begin cleanup.
School officials said high school classes will be canceled on Wednesday.
