BETHANY, Oklahoma -- More than 1,000 bicyclists with big hearts endured the heat Saturday to spin their wheels for the patients at The Children's Center in Bethany.
Riders from Oklahoma, Kansas, Arkansas, Texas, Missouri, and Illinois rode a variety of distances along Route 66 to raise money for the hospital.
"It's an awesome ride, good support, a very good cause," said Scott Coppenbarger, Children's Center, Director of Communications. "The great thing about spin your wheels is you can be a serious rider and ride the 100 mile ride, or you can just be a recreational rider and just out there and enjoy the beautiful morning."
Courses ranged from 12 miles to 100 miles west of Bethany.
The proceeds from the event will be used for immediate needs of the 120 patients at the hospital.
