GRADY COUNTY, OK -- Two Chickasha, Oklahoma residents were injured early Saturday morning – one seriously - when the semi they were riding in hit a cow. The accident took place at about 3:30 a.m. on U.S. Highway 81 and Amber Road in Grady County.
Kirk A. Simmons, 42, was driving a 2007 Peterbuilt Crane northbound on Highway 81 when he hit a cow that was standing in the roadway. The truck rolled one time, according to a report by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
The truck then left the roadway to the left and rolled a second time, striking a fence.
Simmons was taken to an area hospital in good condition with trunk, arm, leg and head injuries. A passenger, 32-year-old Brinda F. Baker of Chickasha was taken to the hospital with trunk, arm, leg and head injuries in serious condition.
The driver's condition was apparently normal at the time of the accident. The accident's cause is listed as "domestic animal in the roadway."
Baker was wearing a seat belt; Simmons was not, the report states.
