OKLAHOMA CITY -- Bombing technicians from all over the country met in Edmond for important lessons on underwater explosives Thursday.
The group used Lake Arcadia to practice techniques on recovering explosives that have been hidden or discarded in water. Instructors said the practice sessions are extremely important.
"This is extremely dangerous what they're doing. This is the most dangerous training they'll ever do. Most of this training is probably going to be more dangerous than actual operations on shore. Not only do we take that same explosive that we deal with, when we put it under 8 to 10 feet of water, and you try to take care of it then," said Rockie Yardley, bombing instructor.
The program started in 1996, and the Edmond Police Department instructors have trained agents from several agencies, including the FBI and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
