MUSTANG, Oklahoma -- The family whose dog was allegedly beaten to death by an Oklahoma Natural Gas worker has filed a lawsuit against ONG.
In June, 22-year-old Kyle McCormack went to turn the gas off at a home in Mustang. That's when police said McCormack told them he hit and killed the family's pug Mimi, who was partially blind and missing teeth, in self-defense.
Now the Holderbee family is suing ONG for wrongful destruction of property, emotional distress and punitive damages.
"We have a young boy who is 8 years old that lost a dog named Mimi that's basically been with him all of his life, and he was traumatized, and we don't want this to happen to people in the future," said David Dunlap, the Holderbees' attorney
Dunlap said the family isn't after money. He said the best outcome for them would be for ONG to change its policy.
