OKLAHOMA CITY -- According to the U.S. Census, there are more than 82 million moms in America. And while some were prepared to wish the mom's in our life a Happy Mother's Day, for others it was a last minute rush.
Customers filed into Tony Foss' flower shop Sunday looking for last minute gifts for their moms.
Foss normally uses Sunday to get a jump start on the weeks orders, but this Sunday, flowers for Mom were the top priority, keeping the florist pretty busy.
"At one time we had seven people standing in here lined up for arrangements," Foss said.
That's not surprising, more Americans give gifts like flowers on Mother's Day than any other holiday except Christmas.
"I had one guy that drove from the south side all the way down May Avenue looking for a florist open…and my door was open," the florist said.
Besides flowers, statistics say the way to a mom's heart is getting her out of the kitchen. Mother's Day is the most popular day of the year to dine out, with 38 percent of people on average making reservations.
If you still haven't told your mom Happy Mother's Day, it's not too late. Send a free e-card or text through Hallmark's Web site.
