Roy Williams was nicknamed "Superman" while he played at OU after he leaped over a Texas running back during the 2001 Red River Rivalry and hit quarterback Chris Simms, forcing the ball from his hand. OU recovered in the endzone for a touchdown.
Williams started as a sophomore on the 2000 National Championship team. He set a NCAA record with 12 tackles for a loss.
He won the Bronko Nagurski Trophy as the nation's top defensive player during his junior year. He was also named to the All Big 12 and All-American teams. He entered the draft following the season.
The Dallas Cowboys selected him in the first round, eighth overall, of the 2002 NFL draft. He quickly made a name for himself as a hard-hitter. He was named to the first of his five Pro Bowl selections after his second season.
Williams asked for, and was granted his release before the 2009 season. He signed with the Cincinnati Bengals last season.
