ANADARKO, Oklahoma -- State investigators sent a formal request to the FBI for help in solving the grisly killing of a pastor inside her church in Anadarko.
Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation spokeswoman Jessica Brown said Friday they want the federal agency's help in analyzing the death of 61-year-old Carol Daniels.
Brown said the FBI has experts in fields like behavioral science that could help them find the killer.
Those experts are part of the same unit that has helped the OSBI investigate the murder of two young girls from Weleetka.
Daniels' body was discovered Sunday with numerous stab wounds inside the Christ Holy Sanctified Church in Anadarko. Investigators said after she was slain, Daniels' body was "staged," or put into an unnatural position, which criminology experts said is extremely rare.
A vigil to honor Pastor Daniels will be Friday at 7 p.m. at the Greater First Baptist Church of Anadarko, 502 E Washington. The public is welcome to attend.
Daniels funeral will be at the Greater New Zion Baptist Church in Oklahoma City on Monday, August at 1 p.m.
Coming up tonight on NEWS 9 at 10, Colleen Chen will have a live report in Anadarko as friends and family gather to remember Pastor Carol Daniels.
The Associated Press contributed to this report.
