CHOCTAW, Oklahoma - Grass fires have rekindled along Hiwassee Roads between SE 8 and NE 10 streets.

Residents west of NE 10 Street and Hiwassee Road were evacuated. The Eastwood Edition near Reno Avenue and Anderson Road was also evacuated. About 100 residents were evacuated, most have been able to return.

Three fire chiefs were on scene along with about 20 brush pumpers. Because of windy and dry conditions, firefighters eveacuated all residents within a half mile of the blaze as a precaution.

Firefighters have the fire under control. No injuries have been reported and no structures were damaged from this rekindled blaze.

Fires rekindled in Choctaw and Midwest City Friday. Crews had been battling blazes across the state Thursday night.

The command post is currently located at Reno Avenue and Anderson Road, about one mile east and south of the evacuations.
