DUNCAN, Oklahoma - The mother of Lt. Gov. Jari Askins has died at her home in Duncan.
"My brother Marty and sister Carrie join me in sharing the difficult news that Jarita Askins, our beloved mother has passed away at 85 years of age," Lt. Governor Jari Askins said in a brief statement issued yesterday afternoon on behalf of the Askins family. "Our mother's life was filled with love of God, her family, and the community she dearly loved to call home."
Jarita Askins died Sunday after a lengthy illness.
Services for Jarita Pyrl Askins will be held at 1:30 pm Thursday afternoon at the First Christian Church of Duncan, 912 W Walnut Avenue. Arrangements are being handled by Grantham Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the Askins family asks for memorial donations to either of the following:
