While as many as one million people gathered in the cold Tuesday in
Washington, D.C. to watch former Illinois Senator Barack H. Obama get
installed as the 44th U.S. President.
Watchers in sunny Miami squinted with intensity during the pomp and
circumstance.
Meanwhile thousands assembled in nursing homes, city parks and Ft. Lauderdale
William Dandy Middle schools spoke about the significance of the day.
Teacher Tanya Sevalia and community activists Georgia Ayers understood what
was at stake.
Moody Amarante, who was attending a watch party in Miami, says she loved being
a part of the festivities. Same can be said about Weon Gimin, who's visiting
Miami from South Korea.
Despite the balmy temperatures, old and young alike, gathered together with
friends, strangers and fellow Americans.
