The Ethics Commission just released a public reprimanding Wednesday of former State Auditor and Inspector Jeff McMahan.
According to the Ethics Commission McMahan violated the Constitutional Ethics Rule that an elected officer shall not knowingly solicit campaign contributions from an employee in the officer's governmental entity.
On July 14, 2005 McMahan sent Martha Grubb, a letter requesting a donation to his 2006 state re-election campaign. At that time, Grubb was an employee in the office of the State Auditor and Inspector. Since he violated the rule, the Ethics Commission has publicly reprimanded him.
