TULSA, Okla. -- The 2007 football season can be described as, "business as usual."
In 6A, Jenks took home the jewelry for the second straight year. The Trojans bowled over Union in second rendition of the Backyard Bowl.
The Jenks/Union showdown has signified sheer dominance for the east side of Oklahoma. The two programs have taken home the last 11 Gold Balls with Jenks claiming eight of those championships.
In 5A, Bixby might have lost to Guthrie in the state finals, but the Spartans have proved their power with three district championships and two state title appearances over the last three seasons. Especially in a class that's been largely dominated by west-side wonder Carl Albert, whose seven titles in 11 seasons stacks up to 6A big brother Jenks.
Glenpool was looking for their first Gold Ball since 2002, but was denied by Bishop McGuinness who beat the Warriors to claim its second straight 4A title.
In 2A, Cascia Hall was a perfect 15-0 in '07 with the Commandos claiming their first state crown since 1999. The Tulsa school will move to Class 3A for the 2008 season.
Behind University of Oklahoma commit Ronnell Lewis, the tailback/linebacker threat for the Dewar Dragons led the school to the Class B championship game. Although they fell to Morrison, Ronnell returns and Dewar will be playing in Class A this season. The big change, moving from eight man football to 11 man this season.
