Wildfire moved rapidly through Johnston County

Johnston County officials issued an emergency warning for residents living south and west of Mill Creek on Monday evening.

Johnston County officials issued an emergency warning for residents living south and west of Mill Creek on Monday evening.

The residents of 12 homes in the Mill Creek area were evacuated, according to Welsey Sanders, the director of emergency management for Johnston County.

A wildfire, which started Friday, was burning one mile east of the Murray County line and was moving rapidly northwest.

According to fire officials, no injuries were reported and no homes were burned by the fire.

The fire consumed more than 7,000 acres of land since it's flare up Friday, according to Sanders.
