Wait! I'm not ready for summer to be over yet!

Maybe I should rephrase that.  I mean, I'm all about cooler temperatures.

What I mean is---I'm not ready for school to start, and all the OTHER STUFF that goes with it.  You know what I mean by other stuff. 

--BUYING SCHOOL SUPPLIES  Why is it that you can find all but TWO ITEMS at every store?

--BUYING SCHOOL CLOTHES  "Yes, son (or daughter), I know it's a thousand degrees outside right now, but these long sleeve shirts are on sale!"

--TAKING SUPPLIES TO SCHOOL  Uh, sure, I'd like to help with PTA.  When do you meet?  Oh, 5pm.  (Who in the heck can be there at 5pm)  You want me to order a yearbook already?  It costs HOW MUCH?

Don't get me wrong--I know getting kids back into school costs money....but does it have to hit all at once?

Sure, I'm tired of hearing "I'M BORED" from my kids everyday, but it seems like just when we start to hit that "summertime groove", it's over.  By "summertime groove" I mean heading to the pool every weekend, and going to the sno cone stand at least every other night.  My kids seem to forget what BEDTIME means during the summer. 

Then there's all that stuff that I said "I'll do that this summer."  Like paint the bathroom, enlarge the patio, fix the roof, etc.

But to be honest, the most important thing to accomplish during the summer is...VACATION.  All that other stuff can wait..at least for awhile.

My family's trying to squeeze one in right before school starts.  Wish me luck.
