NORMAN, Okla. -- Police have identified the suspect injured in the officer involved shooting Saturday as Sang Van Nguyen, 37. Police believe Nguyen to be from the Dallas metro area.

Master Police Officer John Terry responded to a report of a naked man sleeping in a parked vehicle shortly before noon Saturday that resulted in the shooting.

When he approached the parked vehicle at 201 S. Creekdale Drive, an altercation occurred between Officer Terry and Nguyen.

Nguyen drove away, dragging the officer with him police said.

Terry was able to draw his service weapon and fire, striking Nguyen once in the chest.

Both Nguyen and the officer were transported to Norman Regional Hospital, where Terry was treated for injuries to his arms and released.

Nguyen's injuries were evaluated and he was subsequently admitted to the hospital for further treatment.

An investigation of the incident is continuing under the direction of the Criminal Investigations Division.
