A majority of Oklahoma voters polled preferred teacher pay raises to a cut in state income tax.

A survey taken by the our sister station KOTV and the Tulsa World polled 757 voters. The results revealed 54 percent favor bringing all teachers' pay up to the regional average, even if that limits a reduction in income taxes.

Thirty-eight percent of those polled said they preferred a merit-based plan to elevate teachers' salaries.
