Friday night was all about the buck at the International Finals Rodeo at State Fair Arena.
The championship trophies awarded for winning this rode are belt buckles.
For the most part, the 2,000 pound bovines seem about as peaceful as your typical dairy cow.
But ask a veteran cowboy, and he'll tell you why it's best not to mess with a rodeo bull.
"They'll hook ya," said Jared Long.
Long is a professional bull rider. He started when he was 17.
"Just kind of one of those dare things, and I just loved it," he said.
Long said he's ready his bull named Bling Bling who doesn't like cowboys.
"I seen him here last year," Long said. "One of my buddies got on him - buck him off in like four seconds."
Long said he's confident he'll cash this bull in for a winning ride and get the real "bling bling" of a rodeo championship.
"I got my heart set on it," he said. "I am real excited."
