The Pride of Oklahoma is a crowd thriller.
"We got 85,000 people on their feet at our stadium," said band member Margaret Perry, of Oswego, N.Y. "There's no feeling like having that many people into your show."
The OU marching band rehearsed its halftime show Sunday at a high school in Scottsdale, Ariz. The group is polishing their show for the Fiesta Bowl. Band members said their dance routine to the Michael Jackson hit "Thriller" has been a crowd-pleaser all season.
"You can't top ‘Thriller,'" said Jensen Mecca, a sophomore mellophone player. "That's the one that's been so much fun to do all season. They go crazy."
Before they left last week, the band hadn't rehearsed together for three weeks. Some members were looking forward to a refresher course.
"Learning ‘Thriller' was definitely hard for me," said drumline member Caitee Boxeur. "I'm not a dancer myself so it was kind of different. I messed up a few times but I got it by the end."
