1 Dead, 3 Injured In Multi-Vehicle Crash Near Arcadia Lake

1 Dead, 3 Injured In Multi-Vehicle Crash Near Arcadia Lake

One person was killed and three others injured following a multi-vehicle crash on E. 2^nd Street, near Arcadia Lake, in Edmond, Wednesday evening.

First responders were called out to the scene of the five-vehicle crash on 2^nd Street, between I-35 and N. Air Depot Boulevard, around 5 p.m.

According to Edmond Police, it is believed a driver crossed over into oncoming traffic and crashed into another vehicle head-on. A vehicle behind this crash swerved to avoid being hit, but crash into another vehicle.

The driver responsible in the initial crash died at the scene. The deceased was identified as 40-year-old Shelly Kirkpatrick. At least two people had to be extricated from their vehicles. According to police, three other people have been taken to local hospitals. At least one of the injured was transported from the scene via medical helicopter.

Authorities shut down both Air Depot and 2nd Street in all directions for several hours while crews worked the scene.

Names of the others involved have not yet been released.
