Arrest Warrants Issued For Suspects In Case Of Woman’s Body Found In Nicoma Park

Arrest warrants have been issued against four people wanted in connection with an Oklahoma City woman's death.

The body of Alecia Payne, 26, was found dumped in a ditch in Nicoma Park almost three weeks ago. The Medical Examiner's office is still waiting for toxicology results to come in to determine exactly how she died.

It was the morning of March 31 that Payne's body was found lying near a dead end road near NE 32nd St. and Westminster Rd. But a tip led investigators to a Super 8 motel located off I-35 and SE 39th St. It is the last place Payne was seen alive.

“We believe our investigation may well include human trafficking and most likely will lead to other charges being filed,” said Oklahoma County Sheriff John Whetsel.

Court papers state Payne had been staying with 40-year-old Michael Brown of Midwest City, and that both hotel records and surveillance video confirmed they had been staying there for about a week in March.

Surveillance video also shows Brown and two other people removed Alecia's lifeless looking body from the hotel, and that it was wrapped in the same blanket that was found lying next to her in the ditch.

Right now the sheriff’s department has issued arrest warrants for Brown and three other people, identified as Shyann Lowery,19, of Oklahoma City, Melissa Evans, 30, of Midwest City, and Jeremy Steelman, 39, of Oklahoma City.

Whetsel says Steelman is clearly seen on video carrying the body. Evans is currently in the Tulsa County Jail for prostitution. All four suspects have criminal records, mainly for drugs related crimes.

“We believe the other three are either in hiding in the metro area or have left the metro area in an attempt to hide and avoid arrest,” said Whetsel.

Whetsel says Brown is considered dangerous and could be armed.
