An out of control wildfire is burning Tuesday in Woodward County, Oklahoma, and prompting evacuations.
About 27,500 acres have burned since about 1 p.m. Tuesday. Fire crews from northwest Oklahoma, Kansas and Texas are working to put out the fire.
Oklahoma Forestry Services sent two air tankers and a management team to assist in putting out the fire. Task forces from Beaver and Dewey counties were also sent to help.
Businesses and residents in the area from County Road North South 207 and Highway 50, and from East West County Road 21 and East West County Road 32 should evacuate to the west. Authorities urge traveling west to highway 34, and then south into Woodward.
At least 12 homes were evacuated due to the large fire.
Two firefighters have minor injuries from battling the fire.
The American Red Cross has opened up an evacuation center at the Pioneer Room, 1212 9th Street, in Woodward.
As the fire advances northward, officials with Woods County Emergency Management are asking residents in Freedom, Okla. to evacuate now, north on State Highway 50 and then east on State Highway 64, toward Alva.
The evacuation is voluntary and county officials are opening Woods County Fairgrounds to those who choose to leave their homes.
A road grader that held a man who was rescued by storm trackers Val and Amy Castor is said to be back in operation and was missed by the fire.
