Grass Fire Destroys Barn, Burns Home Near Jones

Multiple fire crews were called to battle a large grass fire that engulfed a barn and burned part of a home near Jones in eastern Oklahoma County, Tuesday afternoon.

Firefighters with the Jones, Choctaw, Harrah, Hickory Hills, as well as Oklahoma City, departments were called out to the area near E. Britton Rd. and N. Anderson Rd.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined. The fire from the barn spread to the corner of a nearby home. Luckily, crews were able to get the fire under control before it could do much damage to the home.

Authorities tell News 9 that one civilian at the scene was injured. The extent and cause of that person's injury is not known at this time.

Another fire also flared up in a group of hay bales near N. Portland Ave. and Coffey Creek Rd. in Edmond. The cause of that fire is not known.
