One Hospitalized After Officer-Involved Crash In Norman

The Norman Police Department is investigating after an officer-involved crash Saturday morning.

One person is in critical condition after a traffic accident involving a Norman police officer.

About 9:20 a.m., the Norman Police Department responded to a call that one of their own was involved in a two-vehicle accident near 12th Ave SE and Lindsey.

The police cruiser was driving southbound on 12th Avenue SE. The other vehicle was driving northbound on 12th Avenue SE and began to turn left onto westbound Lindsey Street, police said.

The two vehicles collided into the intersection. Both drivers were hurt in the accident.

The officer was taken to the hospital for treatment and was later released.

The driver of the other vehicle was taken to hospital and is in critical but stable condition.

No names were released Saturday.

Anyone who saw the accident and has not talked to the Norman Police Department is asked to call (405) 321-1444 and ask to speak to MPO Houser.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
