According to police, at about 7 p.m. Thursday, officers responded to Brooks' apartment in the 5700 block of S. Agnew to check her welfare after she had not shown up to pick up her children from daycare. When officers arrived, they found her dead inside a bedroom.
Police said Brooks had trauma to her face and head, and she had two black and swollen eyes and blood covering her face.
After reviewing surveillance footage at the daycare, police learned that Thursday morning, Brooks' boyfriend Timmons was the one who dropped off the children at the daycare.
Brooks' four children later told Brooks' mother that Brooks and Timmons had been fighting the night before, according to police. One child said they saw Timmons hurt Brooks, and that Brooks “is in heaven now.”
Brooks’ mother also said her daughter’s 2006 Honda Odyssey van was missing. She said Timmons had assaulted Brooks numerous times in the past. Timmons had thrown Brooks through a window, causing Brooks to be hospitalized for a head injury, Brooks’ mother said.
Police are currently searching for Timmons. If you have any information, call 911.
