An early morning shooting in southwest Oklahoma leaves one man dead and police searching for the shooter.

Police were called to a bar near SW 24th St. and Robinson just before 2 a.m. on Monday.

Neighbors to the bar say it's not uncommon for the bar to get a little rowdy on the weekend, but say it's never escalated to the point of a man lying dead in the street.

The parking lot is quiet at La Chamba, along SW 24th Street. Shattered beer bottles lie near the newly bloodstained road; the spot where police found 33-year-old Juan Barajas a little after 1:45 a.m. on Monday.

“Officers arrived. We located the victim described as a Hispanic male lying in the road,” said Oklahoma City Police spokesperson Sgt. Jennifer Wardlow.

A call for shots fired brought officers out to the bar. Police says any possible witnesses quickly scattered at the sight of flashing red and blue lights. Shortly after police arrived Barajas was pronounced dead.

“We do however know that there were a lot of people at this location. We know that some of them left before our officers arrived,” said Wardlow.

At this time police have not released a motive to the shooting. And they couldn't comment to reports of Barajas's death being related to drugs.

At this time no arrests have been made and no suspects have been named.

If you know any information you're asked to call the Homicide Tip Line (405) 297-1200.
