Oklahoma managed to escape a Bedlam sweep on Sunday, taking down Oklahoma State, 5-3 at Bricktown Ballpark.
The win snapped a five-game losing skid for the Sooners, while the Cowboys saw their four-game winning streak come to an end. A win for OSU would have sealed the first OSU sweep of Bedlam since 2007.
Anthony Hermelyn's two-run home run in the bottom of the seventh inning proved to be difference on Sunday, after the Cowboys used home runs from Donnie Walton and Ryan Sluder to knot the score at three after six innings.
The Sooners got a solid performance from the pitching trio of Robert Tasin, Jacob Evans and Ralph Garza Jr. after giving up 17 runs in the first two games of the series.
Carson LaRue started the game for OSU, but didn't get out of the second inning as the Sooners jumped to a 2-0 lead with LaRue struggling to find the plate. Trey Cobb come on for OSU and shut the Sooners down over the next four innings before Hermelyn broke the drought with an RBI groundout in the bottom of the fifth inning.
OU pitching sealed the win for the Sooners, as five of the final six outs came via strikeouts from Evans and Garza Jr.
OSU opens a home series with West Virginia Friday night while the Sooners will travel to Kansas State.
