A violent attack on a Moore Police officer is caught on dash cam video.
It happened late Tuesday night in the 1400 block of Northeast First Street. Police said Sergeant James White was arresting 30-year-old Michael Soto for DUI hit and run. Witnesses said he ran a truck into a woman's car that was parked in her driveway.
The video shows a drunken Soto refusing to cooperate with Sgt. White. White attempted to use his taser on Soto a handful of times, but police said the taser may have malfunctioned.
Then, the video shows Soto's younger brother 29-year-old Ismael Soto run at Sgt. White, tackle and slam White into his police cruiser.
A witness told News 9 Ismael Soto appeared to be highly intoxicated too.
Police Spokesman Jeremy Lewis said Ismael Soto was on top of Sgt. White pummeling him before another man stepped in and pulled Soto off.
“It's the most dangerous situation we face. We absolutely cannot be on our backs with someone on top of our officers. This is as dangerous a situation as you can get,” said Lewis Thursday afternoon.
Police arrested both Soto brothers with felonies that include aggravated assault on a police officer.
Joshua Haralson is a neighbor who called 911, when he saw Michael Soto run his truck into the woman's car, and then run away. “Really like something you see on TV,” he said. “Like at first I didn't believe it, but it's right in front of my face, how can I not believe it.”
