Crews managed to keep a fire at an abandoned home from spreading to the grass and trees in a rural area of far southeastern Oklahoma City, Tuesday afternoon.
Firefighters were called out to the area, located in the 13000 of SE 35th St., just north of Interstate 40, near S. Post Rd.
News 9 is told that the home was not occupied, but that someone was working to refurbish the place. While working on the home the man apparently dropped a cigarette that sparked the fire which then quickly grew out of control.
Fire crews initially had a tough time fighting the blaze due to a lack of water sources in the area. No one was injured in this fire, but the home is considered a total loss.
