The track coach at Enid High School is looking at the possibility of spending time in prison. This, after a misdemeanor assault and battery charge was filed against him.
This all dates back to an incident in November, 2014. According to "The Enid News and Eagle," Joe Miranov hit a child in the face at the Carver Early Childhood Center.
A court affidavit said once PE class was over, the four-year-old refused to put on his coat. A substitute teacher told prosecutors she saw Miranov grab the boy by his arms, pick him up, and back down again. The teacher went on to say Miranov then yelled at the child.
The child apparently swatted at Miranov's face. That's when Miranov allegedly hit the boy across the side of his head.
Another teacher interviewed by investigators said Miranov told her "he knew what he did was wrong" and that he had "apologized to the boy."
Miranov has since been suspended from the Enid Public School District. If convicted, he could face up to 90 days in jail and a $1,000 fine.
