A Chickasha woman is accused of attacking a paralyzed man by taking a lighter to his legs.
Shane Anderson says he can't feel his legs but could smell something and soon realized what was happening.
“When she burned me though, I had to smell it,” Anderson said.
It's the only way Anderson knew what was going, because he's paralyzed from the waist down.
“I can't feel it,” he said.
It all happened at a get-together at a home in Chickasha. Several people were there, but Anderson says there was one person in particular who started harassing him. Her name is Carla Cole, and Anderson says when she gets mad, 'get out of her way.'
“There was something wrong with her,” he said. “She was acting crazy.”
Police say it started when Cole took a lighter to Anderson's leg.
“Her burning me, that took the cake right there,” said Anderson. “She had a hat on, and I kind of waved my hand, you know how you hit the bill, and knocked it off her head.”
“Before I know it, she socked me,” Anderson said.
But there was a turn of events when Anderson says Cole headed to the kitchen.
“Oh, after all that happened, she gets up and says, ‘I'm going to kill you,'" said Anderson. "She runs in there and gets a knife out of the kitchen.”
Anderson said someone helped him get to another room in the house, and Cole headed out the front door.
“On the way out of the house she was like, ‘I got a gun in my car, and I'm going to get it. I'm going to shoot your a**,” Anderson recalled.
Police arrested Cole, and she was charged with one count of assault with a dangerous weapon.
“When you set things on fire, people sometimes lose their lives,” Interim Chickasha Police Chief Shannon McClain said.
Anderson is lucky to have his. He survived a motorcycle accident that left him without the use of his legs and a jaw dropping scar on his back.
Cole has been released from jail.
