Two Grass Fires Burning Around Oklahoma City

Fire crews battled a large grass fire that threatened structures near NW 164^th and Rockwell Ave., in northwest Oklahoma City, Thursday afternoon.

According to scanner reports, about three acres of land is burned as the fire slowly advanced toward a subdivision. No structures were damaged however, as firefighters were able to quickly contain the blaze.

It is unclear how the fire got started, but based on the area, could have began by a lit cigarette butt.

While crews were busy battling the blaze in northwest OKC, a second grass fire flared up in the area of SE 89^th St. and I-35, near Teledrift Inc., a drilling contractor for the oil and gas industry. 

Crews have this fire under control at this time. Between three and five acres burned in the second fire.
