Fire crews battled a large grass fire that threatened structures near NW 164th and Rockwell Ave., in northwest Oklahoma City, Thursday afternoon.
According to scanner reports, about three acres of land is burned as the fire slowly advanced toward a subdivision. No structures were damaged however, as firefighters were able to quickly contain the blaze.
It is unclear how the fire got started, but based on the area, could have began by a lit cigarette butt.
While crews were busy battling the blaze in northwest OKC, a second grass fire flared up in the area of SE 89th St. and I-35, near Teledrift Inc., a drilling contractor for the oil and gas industry.
Crews have this fire under control at this time. Between three and five acres burned in the second fire.
