Serving the homeless on Christmas has turned into a family tradition for some in the metro.
Debra Richards has volunteered on Christmas Day at the Jesus House near downtown Oklahoma City every day for the past six years. Richards says she was hooked after the first year, and enjoys serving the turkey meals in the cramped kitchen.
"[I like to] watch the joy and happiness in their faces when they receive," Richards said.
Richards was joined by her 16-year-old son, who she started bringing four years ago.
"I never thought anybody cared that much about helping other people, especially somebody like me," said George Foster, who received a meal from the Jesus House on Christmas day.
"It's not about what you do in life. It's about what you do for others," Richards said.
The Jesus House is expected to serve nearly 200 meals to people on Christmas Day.
