Oklahoma City police say a bail bondswoman fired a gunshot at a suspect when the man tried to run her down with his vehicle while fleeing a motel on the south side of the city.
Bondsman Bobby Hawkins says he was trying to serve suspect Richard Johnson after Johnson failed to appear in court Wednesday morning. Hawkins and his daughter tracked the suspect to the Bel Aire Motel on S.W. 29th Street near Interstate 44.
Hawkins says when they found Johnson at the motel, he struggled with the two, ran to a truck and began to drive away. Hawkins says as Johnson was pulling out of the parking lot, he aimed the truck at his daughter. The bondswoman pulled out her gun and shot at the vehicle.
No one was hit.
The suspect got away. Johnson has a long criminal history with arrests on larceny and drug charges.
