OKC's First Homicide Victim Had Filed Protective Order Against Suspect

A woman who was found stabbed to death in Oklahoma City had filed for a protective order against the man accused of killing her.

Jenna Flippo had filed this police report against David Nichols Jr. back in November, saying he called and threatened to burn her house down with her in it. She also filed an emergency temporary protective order back in February of 2005.

Court papers state Flippo called police, saying her common-law husband David Dean Nichols Jr. pointed a knife at her and threatened to kill her during a fight.

Nichols is now accused of killing her here in her front yard over the weekend.

Flippo was found stabbed to death in her front yard on S.W. 63rd Street near May Ave. early Saturday morning.

Friends and neighbors have placed stuffed animals and a note on Flippo's door, saying "we will miss you Gina and rest in peace."

Neighbors are still horrified that this happened to a loving mother of three. But police say they had been called out here before.

"I can tell you that there were issues of a domestic nature, at least one occasion," Sgt. Jennifer Wardlow said.

Flippo's family would not go on camera, saying for now, they are focusing on taking care of her children. But her brother told News 9 she was a good mother to her kids, always had a smile on her face and a joke to tell and believed everyone had good in them, including Nichols who had a long criminal background and had served time in prison.
