The Oklahoma Highway Patrol has reopened westbound Interstate 40 near Interstate 35 after 21 vehicles were involved in 10 separate accidents within just minutes on the same overpass.
Around 4:30 a.m., cars began losing control on westbound I-40. The weather created black ice on the overpass and drivers were taken by surprise.
Three semi trucks and 18 cars crashed into each other within just minutes. State troopers shut down westbound I-40, and shuttled drivers to a nearby hotel while they investigated the multi-car crash and tried to clear away the wreckage.
No one was seriously injured, but some people were taken to the hospital. By 7:30 a.m., tow trucks had taken away all the damaged vehicles. The highway reopened just after 8 a.m.
